Colorado Mini Classic
The Colorado Mini Classic is the ACA revival of a junior only points based multi-stage race in Colorado. The Mini Classic has the coveted Lance Armstrong Junior Race Series, the nation's highest designation for junior races, for 2012. The quiet, small town of Silt, CO will host this year's event. Silt is located on I-70, 14 miles west of Glenwood Springs. Both New Castle and Rifle are a short 7 mile drive on I-70 from the Silt exit. The Silt community, including Garfield County, have truly embraced this event - we are very lucky to be working with such great people!
The Mini Classic is co-promoted by the ACA and the Two Rivers Cycling Club. Check out the details for each stage below by clicking on the the stage name.
Saturday, June 2nd:
- Time Trial: Out and Back along the Colorado River. Prevailing wind should make this a challenge for all racers.
- Criterium: A new course for the Mini Classic, this year the criteirium will be in the town of Silt and feature 8 corners as it winds around two Silt parks. The new criterium has the same Start/Finish as the road race.
- Evening Pizza Social Hour for racers and their families at the race hotel. Check results, take pictures and relax on the banks of the Colorado river.
Sunday, June 3rd:
- Circuit Road Race: Start/Finish is located at Settlers Park in downtown Silt. Truly AMAZING 14 mile loop featuring some challenging climbs, rolling hills, a fun descent back into town and each lap features a trip down the "Roller Coaster". You've got to see it to believe it!
- Awards Party with the town of Silt in Settlers Park. Food, beverages, music and fun for all!
Housing:
The Holiday Inn Express in Silt will be the Race Headquarters. Make your reservations now before it fills. Be sure to mention "Mini Classic" to receive a discounted rate!
