Colorado Mini Classic

The Colorado Mini Classic p/b the USA Pro Cycling Challenge is the revival of a juniors only multi-stage race in Colorado that began in the 1980s with the Red Zinger and Coors Classics. For more information on the original Red Zinger Mini Classic, please see Wikipedia and Facebook.  The originial Mini Classics helped launch the careers of Bobby Julich, Jonathan Vaughters, Clark Sheehan, Ruthie Matthes, Colby Pearce and many other cycling legends.  Check out the great photos on Facebook!

The 2012 Colorado Mini Classic is presented by the USA Pro Cycling Challenge 

 and has the coveted Lance Armstrong Junior Race Series,

the nation's highest designation for junior races!

The quiet, small town of Silt, CO will again host this year's event. Silt is located on I-70, 14 miles west of Glenwood Springs. The Silt community and Garfield County have truly embraced this event - we are very lucky to be working with such great people!

The Colorado Mini Classic is co-promoted by the Two Rivers Cycling Club and the ACA.

Here is a description of the event:

Thursday, May 31 - 11:59am - Pre-registration closes on Madsync.  There is no day-of registration for the Mini Classic.

Friday, June 1 - from 4-7pm - Packet Pick-Up - Holiday Inn Express, Silt.

Saturday, June 2nd - from 7-8am - Packet Pick-Up - Holiday Inn Express, Silt.

• 8:00 am - Time Trial: Out and Back along the Colorado River. Prevailing wind should make this a challenge for all racers.
• Noon - 6:00 pm - Criterium: A new course for the Mini Classic, this year the criteirium will be in the town of Silt and feature 8 corners as it winds around two city parks, which feature ample shade and playgrounds for the whole family.
• 7:00 - Evening Pizza Social for racers and their families at the race hotel. Check your results, take pictures and relax on the banks of the Colorado river.

Sunday, June 3rd -

• 8:00 am Road Race - A truly AMAZING 14 mile loop featuring challenging climbs, rolling hills, a fun descent back into town, and each lap features a trip down the "Roller Coaster". You've got to see it to believe it!
• Approx 2 pm - Awards Party with the town of Silt in Settlers Park. Food, beverages, music and fun for all!
