Single Speed Clarification

The question came up, perhaps again, regarding the nature of single speed. After some discussion, the BRAC technical commission and the BOD agreed that the spirit of single speed is that the bicycle only have one cog in back. The practice of blocking gears or zip tying shift levers is not considered to be in the spirit of what single speed is supposed to be about, nor does it conform to the definition a single speed in the USAC regulations. As such, rendering multiple gears unusuable will be allowed for non-Cup events and training series, but not for the weekend CUP events.
